Bedframes are typically made from wood or metal and may include drawers underneath for storage. Headboards, footboards and side rails are what adds interest to the bedframe. Some may also include canopies. The headboard was initially created to separate sleeping individuals from walls to stop drafts, but now they primarily serve aesthetic purposes, along with preventing pillows from falling off the bed.
