Louis XV Furniture

The Louis XV style rose to popularity during the reign of King Louis XV. He began to change the stylings around him from the Louis XIV era, which were large and lavish, to more small items designed for comfort and elegance. This style is still relevant and highly sought after today.

A piece styled from the Louis XV era will typically feature these characteristics:

Gently curved legs
Intricate carvings featuring flowers and nature themes
Comfortable padded seats and chair backs
Inlaid wood, metal, mother-of-pearl and ivory
Delicate pictures created with various wooden textures and colours
High polish finishes

The Louis XV style focuses primarily on combining usefulness, practicality and elegance to create functional yet beautiful pieces. They may be deliberately asymmetrical and often come across as delicate when compared to pieces in the styles previous.

Carrocel has a large collection of furniture representative of the Louis XV style. Each piece will add a unique touch to your home with its delicate carvings or beautiful metallic accents. Browse our catalogue of stunning Louis XV pieces to find one for your home.
